Here
are some dates that are important to mark on your calendars.
--Box Tops
are due October 31st 
--From Booth Library
November
4th 6th grade aspiring writers, Booth is
sponsoring a “YOUNG WRITERS SALON.” Showcase your poetry and creative
writing! There will be pizza and a rehearsal at 5 PM followed by a
presentation in front of a live and admiring audience at 7 PM. There is no
cost, but writers need to sign up and submit their writing before November 1st
to Booth.
Starting November 7th and
ending December 5th,
on consecutive Monday afternoons, Booth is sponsoring a poetry
writing workshop for 6th graders, led by Liz Arneth, retired
English teacher and Newtown resident. Students will be able to write and
share poetry during the workshop which last five consecutive Mondays,
starting .
November 16th
from 4 to 5 PM at Booth, 5th and 6th
graders, who read the amazing novel, Soldier Boys, one of this year’s
Nutmeg nominees, are invited to attend a book discussion on Wednesday

--November 11th & 12th
The CT Children’s Book Fair
takes place at UCONN Saturday and Sunday from
10AM-5PM. This is your chance to meet 20 greatauthors, like
Caroline Cooney, who wrote The Face on the Milk Cartoon and the
Ransom of Mercy Carter. You can also meet Tommie De Paola
who wrote 26 Fairmont Avenue and Newtown’s own Suzanne Collins,
author of Gregor the Overlander, Gregor and the Prophecy of
Bane and Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods. There is no
cost and everyone is welcome!
